The novel has been listed as a book choice for Grade 11 First Additional Language by the DBE, probably because of the serious nature of the subject, but it is definitely suitable for other levels, including Grades 8 or 9 Home Language. While the story deals with serious issues, it is ultimately about hope, courage and finding humanity.
