Most learners struggle to get started with their essay, or are unable to write an interesting opening line that will catch the reader’s attention. This worksheet gets learners to think about the importance of opening lines and offers six ideas on how to start an essay. Learners are encouraged to practise these suggestions using a list of topics provided. They should then select their best opening line and turn it info a full essay.
Suitable for all grades.
